Custom Photography is something "special"
Custom photography is more of a luxury than your entry level cookie cutter chain experience. Custom photography truly is not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time, forethought and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well.
Clients who enjoy taking a more active role in the creation of their families’ memories have the desire to have portrait art that is truly personalized. These more discerning clients have been known to budget and allot time for a custom photography session. Many clients opt for it to be a once a year special experience, some opt to have custom photography sessions done to record their child's stages in life. Having said this, it is clear that custom photography is not in everyone’s budget, it is something that most families save for to splurge on from time to time to memorialize their children as they really are (not posed and primped in the cookie cutter studio setting).
There is a great deal of time involved in creating high end custom photography sessions for a client. The luxury of great service, better choices and a supberb end product. The result of all this are heirloom quality images. The time invested at the session is only a small portion of time involved in this process.
Custom photography has been likened to purchasing a fine vehicle. To get to point B from A let's face it, even a bus ride would suffice. If you want to luxuriate in a finely appointed vehicle, customizing your own experience by listening to smooth jazz while sitting in a climate controlled setting adjusted purely for your comfort in a body hugging leather interior, perhaps that Lexus you so desire is your cup of tea. Custom photography is much the same cup of tea. It is the Lexus of the photography world. It is where the intangibles make the experience truly wonderful and the images themselves make the investment of money and time truly worthwhile.
Custom photography can be broken down into even more levels. There are on location, studio, mixed studio/on location, specialty location and destination type photographers. The beauty of custom photography is in the choices and in the luxury of thoses options. The customized service level you are sure to experience will be amazing. The knowledge that your final images are the result of someone caring about those moments so much that they take extra time ensuring that the artwork you receive is good enough to stand by with their name on it. That level of quality and commitment is all but lost in the age of "mass produced," "mass marketed," corporate "everyone is a number".
Custom photography is based on being unique to you. How great an experience would be, to be able to sit back and allow a photographer to do this highly custom work for images that you will most likely cherish for a lifetime?
Keep in mind more than anything that the Lexus will never appreciate in value the way your portraits will. The portrait art you become invested in from your custom photographer will no doubt increase in value and become more priceless as the years pass.

So this is love....
This engagement session with an old friend of mine was one of the best engagement sessions. Kristen and Josh are defiantly deeply in love and it shows in their pictures. They where so natural and they required little instruction to get the natural expressions that are displayed below. As you can see there was some snow still on the ground that rolled through Christmas morning which added some unique looks to their shots. They definitely have something special between them, and I am excited for the journey that waits for them! Congratulations you two! Click HERE to view the whole session!

Make Up & Hair
Like some shoots, people choose me to do their make up and hair. This is one of my favorite parts of a shoot because its just fun to do it. Bridget was very fun to photograph. She required little direction and photographed really well. Doing her make up and hair was no challenge and the eye make up I chose really made her eyes pop in the frames. My favorite outfit that she brought to her session was her cream lace dress. It was a very old fashion piece and made the shoot artsy and whimsical. I was very happy with the way her pictures turned out and hope she enjoys them for a life time!

Catching Up With Old Friends
It's a little hard to remember but I believe I met Laura in the 4th grade. I had lots of great childhood memories hanging out with her like playing in the mud in her back yard, getting covered from head to toe, and a beach vacation with her sweet family and playing the game Malarkey with the adults. She is very beautiful, and we did this session to update her modeling portfolio. I hope this earns you lots of work, you are very easy to photograph and the camera loves you!!

A Cute Mess.
Yesterday I photographed one month old twins. Just like any newborn session where there are nude babies, they can urinate. Well, usually this happens once during a session, but this was x2! There was baby pee everywhere, but thats what washers are for, right? Amanda was helping me during this session, and boy was it fun. I usually recommended that newborn sessions take place on the 5th or 6th day after birth because of one specific reason, they are very groggy from their journey through the womb. That way you can manipulate them in any which way you want without disturbing them and causing a cry fest. They where one month old, so the crying event happed a few times, but they where easily put back to sleep. Hopefully we didn't scar the poor things.

♥ Fall Weather!!
Today I had a photo shoot with my niece and her Mom! The weather was amazing, and the leafs where so pretty, and the colors where super saturated. Olivia was quite energetic today and was busy going all over the place, and making me laugh. All in all, it was a good shoot, and I was happy with the way the shots came out!

Snap, Flash, Repeat.
So, it has been a VERY long time since I blogged. About two weeks ago, I did my first boudoir session. It is a new genre of photography that I am getting into, and boy is it a blast. The main idea of this new type of session is can be used as a gift for a husband containing sensual, classy, and beautiful pictures of their wife. The product that comes a long with the session is an album called the "little black book". I get to have all sorts of fun doing make-up and hair and playing dress up. Its really a gift for a guy, but in reality it is really fun to show a women in a new light, and show her the true beauty that she is. You definitely walk away from the experience with a boost of confidence. So ladies, if you are interested I can show you the session. A day after this really fun session, I photographed girls from the Georgia Figure Skating Club, and boy was that a lot. I had to shoot a group shot of 36 girls dressed up in their competition dresses. The crazy part was that I was in the middle of the ice in flats ON A LADDER holding a very expensive camera. There was no falling :] and I had four people holding me and the ladder. Along with the group shot, I also photographed 14 girls in back to back sessions...talk about a long day.

Snap Life Photography - The First Blog
Alright, So I am new to this whole blogging thing. I have been very intimidated of just the thought of starting a blog. After brainstorming for the past few days about what I should write, I thought it would be a good idea start with the mission of Snap Life Photography.
This being said, my personal goal for my line of work is to make sure every client truly loves their photographs. I hope clients come back year after year to share their lives with me, and let me unveil each new chapter of life with a photograph. Photography is more then expensive cameras, the perfect flash, or the editing program you use. Its about defining a moment that lasts forever.
Snapping Happy,
Megan
